Summer is the worst season for flyaways thanks to the dreaded humidity. And when you’re under studio lights with backlighting, those little wisps become even more noticeable. A few stray hairs may seem insignificant in person, but on camera, they can be surprisingly distracting.

The good news? They’re easy to fix. Here are a few simple hair tips to help you look polished on camera:

Use a Dryer Sheet
Dryer sheets aren’t just for laundry. Before you go live, gently rub your favorite brand over your hair to smooth down flyaways. One quick swipe can make a big difference.

Hands Off Your Hair
Beyond flyaways, make sure your hairstyle is camera-ready so you don’t have to touch it during an interview. Bangs may be trendy, but if they’re constantly falling into your eyes and you’re repeatedly pushing them back, it becomes distracting. If you have to keep fixing your hair so that it doesn’t fall in your eyes, it’s not the right style for the camera.

Position Long Hair Correctly
For remote interviews, if your hair falls below your shoulders, split it evenly and bring both sides in front of your shoulders. Leaving all of your hair behind your shoulders can look awkward on camera. For in-studio interviews, place one side in front and the other behind your shoulder. Since multiple camera angles are often used, this creates a more balanced look and prevents awkward shots where it shows that you moved all your hair in front of your shoulders.
